A Barcelona bank offers a public thank-you

"In the 130th anniversary of the creation of Banco Sabadell we wanted to pay tribute to our city with the campaign "Som Sabadell." This is the flashmob we do as a climax with the participation of over 100 people in the Vallès Symphony Orchestra and the choirs of Lieder and Friends of l'Opera and the Choral Belles Arts."
I keep telling myself not to look at YouTube comments, but an inadvertent glance this time showed me this one:
this kinda music sucks. notice how only old people and parents are liking it. I guarantee if they did this in new york or somewhere cool like chicago people would be throwing rocks at their wack asses. this type of music is dead. HIP-HOP and rap actually have words in it and speaks to the heart.
Sigh*...

* "illigitimi non carborundum"

p.s. - for those who, like me, enjoy videos of flash mobs, try these old posts:

  2. Because obviously once you're "old" or a parent your taste in music is invalid. :-p

I really enjoyed it. I hope to either participate in or randomly encounter something like this before I die.

  3. You know what they say...

Never read the bottom half of the Internet.

  4. Minnesotastan,

I do that to myself all the time. I don't know why. I think it is some sort of unhealthy compulsion.

  5. This video raised my spirits to an irrational degree. I had to share it with all my family and friends, and now I will go watch it again, just to make sure it sticks.

If you want to read kind, funny, and frequently off-color comments, go to imgur.

    2. Thank you, Minnesotastan!
My face hurts, but it's definitely worth it.

  6. Alle Menschen werden Brüder - not that that 'speaks to the heart', of course.

    1. Very unusual message to be sent by bankers... they must be fearing being killed by mobs.

  7. Chill bumps! As far as the commenter, these kind are always ignorant and dense. I noticed numerous children who were clearly enjoying the concert with exuberance. Also, while I was playing this, my 6-year old son heard from the other room and came in to hear the rest. He asked if this song could be loaded on his MP3 player.

  8. Most enjoyable -- thanks so much for this. (By the way, the last three links have extraneous characters and are broken.)

    1. Somehow I screwed it up when I copied and pasted. Fixed now (I think). Thanks for the heads-up, anonymous.

  10. Ode to Joy never fails to bring tears to my eyes, for the sheer beauty of it. In this setting, it's even more joyous. And for that ignorant kid, a scaled-down version with Spanish lyrics was recorded by a popular artist (don't remember who, sadly), and it was played often on the most popular Spanish-language station in Los Angeles.

  11. Have you seen this

    It's about Youtube trolls.

  12. Bearing in mind that "Ode to joy" is the anthem of European Union, some comments regarding old-fashionness and "suckiness" strike as really odd...

  13. I love these kinds of videos! And this is one of my favorite pieces of music too. I particularly loved the little girl who climbed up the lamppost to see and direct. :)
